BOEING INSTITUTE ON CIVILITY
Online Courses
The Boeing Company partnered with Allen University to establish the Boeing Institute on Civility (BIOC) as a national hub for teaching and programming aimed at advancing civil discourse in America and across the world. Boeing’s gift supported the construction of the Institute, which includes a memorial to honor the Emanuel Nine, victims of the 2015 tragedy at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC.
The BIOC provides a series of courses and related experiences to build both theoretical knowledge and practical understanding of civility. Additionally, a quarterly symposium on important issues of the day (emanating from the Institute’s Studio on the campus of Allen University) offers exchanges from opposite ends of the continuum from regional and national speakers that are broadcast nationally and internationally.
The BIOC strives to:
Elevate the value and practice of civil discourse;
Train individuals to identify uncivil behavior;
Provide a series of courses to build a theoretical knowledge base and practical understanding of civility;
Present opportunities for related hands-on experiences and thoughtful, civil exchanges;
Equip business leaders, employees, and students with the necessary tools to create and enforce a civil workplace and environment.
Please see a listing of courses offered by BIOC below.
